Announcing the 2020-21 Wichita Grand Opera Season

Twenty years ago, our founders first met to discuss forming the WGO. Even though It took a few years for the first performances to take place, great things were in the offing.  And, as we’ve all longed for live events over these past few months, we think it is time to rejoice and rediscover opera now more than ever.

Our season provides the opportunity to explore opera in different ways.  For the newcomer, hear some of opera’s greatest moments in our October Opera Gala (which will also feature the 1st WGO “Talent of Tomorrow Competition” winner).  No one should miss the opportunity to hear family favorites in our holiday presentation of “A Kansas Christmas”.

We are absolutely thrilled to be presenting one of opera’s greatest sopranos and personalities, Christine Goerke, in concert for the first time in the State of Kansas.  To round out our season, our fully staged new production of Mozart’s great masterpiece, “Don Giovanni”, promises to be a theatrical experience that Wichita will never forget.  And don’t forget our September 19th season-opening opera ball, “Downton Abbey”.

Our season features many of your favorite WGO artists as well as exciting up and coming stars from across the country.  This is a season you will want to be a part of and share with your friends.

Don’t miss it!!!
